It’s a big vlog this week because it’s that time of year when budgets are full and job openings are a plenty for many of us in tech or thinking about getting into tech.
I’ve been interviewing since November 2021 but January was my biggest month. This vlog is a candid (real time) video of what it’s like to go through a multiple interview process, what to expect and what to say no to.
As a Black woman in tech sometimes this process can be even more harrowing. The inappropriate questions, having to explain the concept of the magical negro to dealing with direct racism. Definitely not as seamless as the TikTok tech girls would like you to believe… and we haven’t even reached the salary negotiation phase.
A truly emotionally draining week.
