Morning Musing on the Shitshow That is Euphoria
Luvlies, Good morning. Why am I thinking of Zendaya first thing in the morning you wonder? It’s that fcuking show Euphoria being the most destructive season of television I’ve watched since the swan song of Breaking Bad (but not in a good way). I get why Zeny is no longer one of the executive producers on the show. It is truly terrible. Two secondary characters have died IRL, they lost their beloved composer and hired an old one with no vision, and fans are turning on the show because the storyline is gratuitous Ai-esque slop.
Why are we investing so heavily in the atrophied mind of the addicted? Why does Sam get so much money (and patience) to produce expensive garbage? This isn’t Kids (1995) or Skins (2007-2013), but something else entirely. If you step back and look at what they’re making these performers do, it’s like watching the dark side of OF (allegedly). The only women under 30 on the show who get to keep their clothes on are Lexy and Rue. Setting it in a strip club, so the producers get to see pus-say they’re clearly not witnessing in the everyday, is outdated casting couch behaviour. I feel like I’m in the mind of a special needs incel when an episode is on. It’s bad enough watching North America being destroyed by persons of a similar ilk, I just don’t need to watch programming that’s pandering to them.
Other than Zendaya, Jacob and Domingo, I don’t see the careers of the actors really going anywhere after this. The series is a dead end for many. That’s what happens when putting your fate in the hands of someone like Sam. Zendaya carried the show on her back from day one, winning Emmy’s and accolades on its behalf… and then he blew it. Like, who’s gonna be excited by sloppy Sam’s next project? Who’s gonna want a signed poster of of the cast at some convention in 10 years? Yeah, those conventions are a big part of celebrity for the promotion of film and TV. You might find them cringe, but it’s a way a lot of actors make ends meet. Let’s hope these young people’s futures aren’t too affected by the work they’ve done on this show. Otherwise, the future is dim.
…and that’s time. Still here? Leave your thoughts down below.
See you tomorrow Luvlies!
