Morning Musing On Moving To Be Closer To My Friends
Luvlies, Good morning. Yesterday, I had a really good catch-up with friend I’ve had for 16 years, and who sadly lives far-far away. We don’t get to chat as often as we’d like to because of the multiple time-zones between us, two young munchkins, a husband to enjoy and jobs. As I get older, I don’t want to miss my friends the way that I have been lately. I want to be as close to them as I possibly can be.
This is the ‘I-flew-on-a-red-eye-to-Denmark-for-3-days-to-attend-her-wedding’ kind of friend. Physically, I cannot keep up with the jet setting lifestyle I once had. The experience of plane travel is no longer the same, especially with bus people flying, and needing hours to get to my destination while the world is on fire. AND I now need a full day to recover from shooting my body through the sky in a tin can bird.
No. I selfishly want to live closer to the friends I adore because we are running out of young time to hang together. Before we know it, we’ll need hip replacements, hearing aids and maybe a hot nurse to take us around.
Oldness comes on very fast. Maybe I’m feeling influenced by the show Youth, which focuses on a woman in her 50’s and the chaotic life changes happening around her, or just reflecting on reading books like The Correspondent or The Book Club for Troublesome Women about friendship throughout the ages. As I’ve said before, I might only have 20-25 summers left on this planet, and I want them to be bathed in joy.
The idea of moving along the line of time doesn’t depress me. I just want to see the people I adore more frequently. Maybe we’ll join a weekly knitting club or we’re just be active participants in each other’s lives. It makes no difference to me. Cuz with this friend, every time we speak it feels like an expansion. A filling of the cup if you will.
I’m so happy with how life has turned out for her, because I know how much she has endured. And I have friends like this scattered all over the world so far away from me. Me no like. These friends I have are as close to a sibling that I’m going to get in my life, so a rushed phone call isn’t going to cut it anymore.
I have some thinking to do…

…and that’s time. Still here? Share your thoughts on what you do for friendship down below.
See you soon Luvlies!
