Deciding to scale it back this week, so that my mental exhaustion could catch a break. I’m wondering when this process of talking to strangers will lead to a positive outcome. I caught up on admin work, before making a cozy meal of dahl and rice. Even after the yummy meal, I couldn’t shake the blues. So I went on my own version of aprés ski, minus the alcohol or the slopes, and got a big dose of vitamin D. Sometimes, sitting in the sun is the right remedy for melancholy. Interviews, rejection and waiting takes its toll on the brain and body. I just need to breathe and believe that something good will happen soon…
Reading is also a saving grace. I went down the sci-fi rabbit hole with ‘I, Robot’. The book is nothing like the movie, but an interesting read. Men think the future will be terrible, huh?
Interviews with a Tire Kicker
I posted Season 2 of my podcast Laney Luvs to Talk and had another crummy tech interview with a ‘tire kicker’. Seriously, how did this man get my contact info??? It felt like a humiliation ritual, where he wanted to humble me, and ridicule my past experience. The cherry on the cake was him withholding the salary until the end. About $50k under market value. I hung up real quick. I don’t know why hiring people hold back on disclosing salary information, but it has to stop.
Saturday was the day for domestic sh*t, so I headed to my favourite St. Lawrence market to get fresh fruit and veg from the farmers market. Some kid tried to sell me olive oil. It was… awkward.
Next week will be better.
