Morning Musing on Adult Nightmares
Luvlies, Good morning…like what the actual fcuk. Why (at my big age) am I still having nightmares? Like a real classic horror movie ‘I’m running but going nowhere’ nightmare. Determined not t0 turn this into a dream journal, I have to share this one because it was crazy, random and happened 5 mins ago.
I’m in the midsts of moving into a large old school Toronto bungalow with ‘roommates’. People I don’t recognize from my real life at all, but apparently we know each other. This bungalow feels like a Golden Girls set-up but there is something off. There are no bugs, or cracks in the wall. Everything is freshly painted and the lighting is good. All 4 of us (myself, an Asian lesbian couple, and a Winston-type Black male) were excited to move in. They were all a decade younger, but were excited to live together nonetheless. We picked our rooms and all of a sudden beds were made.
Strangely enough, we were all sharing this one room with two large mattresses pushed together and really nice plush duvets. One girl from the couple asked me what are my intentions for living with people, specifically with her and her girlfriend. I said I didn’t know because I don’t know why I’m here, but I will be respect this living situation. I got up to go to the kitchen, but it disappeared and became a long hallway that you would find in an abandoned warehouse, with a blue cast and a flickering neon. It felt like a dodgy rave was happening but no music. There was a strange security camera shaped like a large worm duck taped to the wall, that was capturing the scene unfolding.
People were moving in and out of rooms in silence. Then one guy (biracial with light curly hair and glasses) was shaking his head, like he was possessed or something, but he grabbed my newly apparated roommate, initially fighting the urge from the demon but succumbing to a murderous act. He cut her throat. I screamed ‘TRAPHOUSE!!’ and ran. I was outside confused and panting, standing in the middle of the tracks at the corner of College and Spadina, dodging old school streetcars coming at me warped… when my roommate’s killer appeared on the corner. I only had an a fencing sword to defend myself, so my swipes and jabs were gentle and ineffective. I could tell he didn’t want to harm me but some other entity was controlling him…The Landlord. I knew this place was too good to be true. I pulled off the round tip of the sword and plunged it into his neck and twisted my wrist. Then I woke up.
No, I didn’t eat past midnight. I did have a strong tea though.
…and that’s time. Still here? Leave your thoughts down below.
See you tomorrow Luvlies!
