Morning Musing on how ballet fixes the problem
Luvlies, Good morning. I am sore and a bit dehydrated, because I have never sweateded as much in my life as I did in ballet yesterday. I took a hot yoga class 7 yrs ago and I wasn’t even dripping like that day. Ohmygurd! Ballet class had me silenced and shaking.
Picture it: 5 of us – an old lady, a lady who just had a baby, & 3 young ladies (yes, pronouns affirmed) – at all different levels. Class starts 3 mins late (which never happens) but then its full steam ahead. Literally steam.
The exercises were slow, then quick, then slow again. The room felt warm after 20 mins but it wasn’t; the exercises were bringing the heat. I absolutely melted by the time we started Fondus. Then I was completely drenched when we did cambré in retiré.
Sorry sorry. I forget ballet reads like word salad. A ‘cambré’ is when you bend backwards (usually on your tippy toes) but we added one bent leg (retiré) turned out to the side and balanced on the other leg with a locked knee, while doing the graceful back bend (I drew it for you below). Then we HOLD… HOLD…still HOLD… until the music stopped.
A thousand adjustments are going through your mind and muscles when in that pose. But I tell ya, that exercise alone healed my groin, strengthened my back, healed my pelvis, stretched my abdomen and bewbies, fixed my tennis elbow (I don’t play tennis) and my apartment’s plumbing with one move. It’s like the tiger balm of dance.
And to think last week I could barely bend without needing oils.

…and that’s time. Still here? Share your thoughts on ballet healing all the things down below.
See you tomorrow Luvlies!
