Morning Musing on Nostalgic Playlists
Luvlies, Good morning. How you feeling today? Amazing. Luv that for you 🙂 Did you catch the title of this morning’s musing? That’s what I want to talk about, while Missy is running through your mind. I’ve been focused on creating a permanent life vibe when I wake up each morning. My alarms are now set to my nostalgic 80s-90s AM Radio playlist, because I want to start my day off as I did when I was a yout. Yes, I realize I’m turning into my mother, where the first thing she did in the morning was blast the radio. But I’m her age now, and I get what she was doing.
If we look deeper into it, much of the pre-90s music was written by poets or revolutionaries. People who loved to read, played with words, and not just sounds. The songs were letters to loved ones (or a future loved one) and filled with human stories + emotions. Music could make you lose control with a catchy hook to get the yayas out, or help you keep your peace. The power of the word in song rings true today. Messages are being implanted in our minds subliminally (good or bad). But the difference today is the people writing the music can’t read – a big *ss topic for another day.
Which is why I’m consciously deciding to start my day off in the past. Every psychologist would have something to say about this, but what am I supposed to do? Start my day with the News or with feeling hopeless? In my very personal opinion, I think it’s okay to keep good moments from a different time with you. It’s okay to attach yourself to healthy actions of the past, if it does no harm. So go ahead, listen to the Talking Heads’ Once In A Lifetime and when you hear ‘time isn’t holding up, time isn’t after us’, see if that doesn’t change your day.

…and that’s time. Still here? Leave your thoughts down below.
See you tomorrow Luvlies!
