Morning Musing on Getting On With It
Luvlies, Good morning. I won’t keep you here long. The weekend was a busy one, especially when it came down to creating content. The goal is to return to vlogging, and I have about 2 years worth of footage that is still pertinent to today but… I’m just scared. The first time I tried vlogging consistently, I created 100 videos that nobody watched, literally. I’ve since learned that the style of videos I was creating would have been better as short form Tiktok/ IG content, rather than for YouTube. And I stopped my weekly content just before the momentum hit. Nevertheless, I felt very discouraged by the effort needed to maybe have 3-4 views on a video — with 2 of them being my own.
But I have a plan.
I think we’re in a stage of viewership where real people appreciate the effort that other real people make to publish real human work. The viewers are curious about the process of creation and what it takes to make anything. Profiles on the small business owner with a niche focus are skyrocketing and we love to see it. Areas of fine art/ crafting/ crochet/ reading/ knitting have never been more popular and well produced online as they are now.
Over the weekend I revamped my schedule and will return to creating video content BUT… most of the videos will be behind a paywall (plot twist). Yes, time to start getting paid for the work I do. I’ve been volunteering with YouTube and IG for years now. They have enough of our free labour.
I’m changing the ratios: For every free YT video there will be 3x the Patreon content. With Patreon, even with a lower subscriber count, I can curate my community more than I can with YT, and learn to be a better storyteller. Even if no one is watching the Patreon videos, it’s a win win situation because my work will be safe from Ai bandits and other nefarious innernet characters.
No harm, no foul.

…and that’s time. Still here? Share your plans on how you’re getting things done down below.
See you Luvlies!
xoxo Luv Laney Luv

Morning Musing is a pomodoro-timed, free thought experiment to get back into the swing of things. No Ai added.
