Morning Musing on Taking My First Dance Class Post-op
Luvlies, Good morning. Can I get a ‘HAY-MEN’?!? HAYMEN! I am absolutely buzzing from my morning at the dance studio!! Yes, you read that right. I went to my first dance class since having this silly operation. The sun was out, I got dressed, put on my CHFI AM Radio playlist and headed out the door. I know Spotify is spying on my calendar, cuz it played all the 80’s/90’s tunes with the word ‘dance’ in them. That put me in the best mood, as I Travolta strutted my way to class.
I decided to start out easy by taking an absolute beginner ballet class. I didn’t want to re-injure myself, so starting with a foundation course was the best way to go. Gosh… it was nice to be back in the studio, and out of my bubble of recovery. I chatted with my favourite instructor, greeted my fellow classmates, and made sure to warm-up well. Then we were ready to go…
My mind drifted through different muscles in my body to create a tendu and whatever shapes it could. Gentle twists, petit battements, piano playing Chopin, adagio…. * le sigh * a wonderful time was had.
I’ve missed my instructor’s dark humour. I missed moving my body in the way that it loves to move. It’s the reason why I had this reduction in the first place; to have less restrictions on how I physically express myself. I stood away from the mirror so I wouldn’t spiral into negative ideation, which was the right move.
When the class ended, I stayed back to chat with the studio owner, then bopped all the way home. I’m dancing again Luvlies! Let this be a reminder to frolic and do the things that you love…

…and that’s time. What are you doing today to make your soul sing? Leave your comment down below.
See you tomorrow Luvlies!
